After graduating from the University of Vienna in the field of development studies, Mag. Hannelore Jarvis Essandoh started out as a project consultant at ÖIF (Österreichischer Integrationsfonds) and later worked as a social worker for Caritas at their Asylum Center. She is currently employed at Diakonie's refugee service as a social worker and advisor. Parallel to her academic career, she also has a degree in Fashion and her own label called DesignsbyEfua. Most recently her work in this area has grown from an aesthetic playground into a performative and conscious resistance. Efua Jarvis, Hannelore's artist name, now puts emphasis on, and embodies, wearable activism. With the belief that art has an influence on the way we think, she is always working on a creative approach and has collaborated on many art and cultural projects. Efua, her preferred and traditional Ghanaian name, is also a member of the Schwarze Frauen Community, who help empower black women, children and youth in Austria.
